Summer Program

Summer Aupair Program to The United States with Go Aupair & JCR

Placement period – not negotiable: 4 months May 15th to September 15th

Go away for summer; come back to summer. A short 4 months for a great experience.

Aupair:

  • Work up to 45 hours per week including some evenings babysitting
  • Work a maximum of 10 hours per day, childcare and childcare related housekeeeping only
  • If you are 18 – 26 and do not have 200 hours experience with children under the age of 2, you may only care for children age 2 –12 years old only
  • If you are 18 – 26 and have 200 hours child care experience with children 3 – 24 months old: care of children 3 months – 12 years old
  • You are provided with your own bedroom

To get onto the program:

  • You must be between 18 and 26 inclusive.
  • Must have passed year 12 or the equivalent.
  • Must be a non smoker
  • Must have a driving licence.
  • Be prepared to make a commitment to a family from May 15th to September 15th.
  • Must have a DVD player and be prepared to watch 32 hours of interactive DVDs, as specified by the American State Department, within 8 days.

Au Pair in USAYou receive:

  • Minimum one and half days free per week with one day being Friday, Saturday or Sunday. One full weekend per month.
  • Four days paid vacation.
  • Comprehensive health, medical insurance cover provided with the option to upgrade if desired.
  • $250 provided by host family towards 3 credit hours of adult  education, American interest, courses. [About 3 hours per week]
  • WEEKLY stipend of US$176.85.
  • Flight paid from Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Seoul direct to the family.
  • Opportunity to take 30 days, after expiration of your visa, to travel around America.
  • Return flight paid from host family or gateway on West Coast to Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Seoul, provided you have remained on the program for the full 4 months.

At the moment:
1. You can be a summer aupair only once.
2. A regular aupair cannot go back as a summer aupair.
3. A summer  aupair cannot go back as a regular aupair.
(It is possible that the above 1 - 3 will change in the future.)
4. A summer aupair cannot change status to a regular aupair once the visa has been issued. 
5. If a summer aupair doesn’t place and no visa documents have been issued you can apply as a regular aupair.    

You can apply at any time of the year but the final date for completed applications to reach our office is the 20th March for placement the following May.
