
Aupair in Taiwan

You do not have to speak Taiwanese to be an aupair in Taiwan. Modern fast-paced Taipei is a city with a technological edge. Everything and anything you want is available including MacDonalds! Learn to ride a scooter and you will be able to travel everywhere like a local. If not, rely on efficient and quick transport. Buy beautiful jade artefacts and jewellery. This is a city that prides itself on beauty – inner city gardens abound. Shop till you drop at the night markets.
There is always a demand for aupairs and those with a qualification are highly valued. Families will give preference to applicants with the JCR childminding/aupair certificate. Obtain your aupair certificate now through the on-line JCR Aupair course. Benefit by being given priority placement.
Age group: 18 – 29 single females only. Applications accepted from Australian and New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents only.
Experience caring for children, baybsitting, childminding, taking care of younger family members, working with youth organisations or church groups.
A Driving Licence is preferable but not essential.
Non smokers only accepted.
English mother tongue or complete fluency if English is a second langauge.
12 month Working Holiday Visa is applicable.
Aupair-Tutor
- Childcare, sometimes sole charge.
- Light housework doing everything for the children.
- 2 hours per day tutoring English to help children learn to speak English as a living language.
- 8 hours per day – 40 hour week.
- 2 days free per week usually at the weekend.
- Earn the equivalent of US$140 pocket money per week
- Live in with a Taiwanese family. At least one parent will be able to speak some English
Placements are for 6 months with the possibility of a further 3-6 months. The 6 months could be with one family or with 2 families, each of 3 months duration.
If you stay 6 months on the program you will receive a partial refund of airfare in the amount of Taiwanese $s 25000 [about AU$950]. If you stay a further 6 months the full amount of airfare will be reimbursed.
Taiwanese families do not provide Health Insurance cover, aupairs are responsible for organising their own cover before they leave.
You should be open to learning to speak some Chinese and be ready to readily adapt to a different culture and lifestyle.
Host family placements will be done prior to leaving your home country
The Taiwanese office will provide information to aupairs so that they can meet other young people and find their way around. They will also try to organise get togethers for aupairs once a quarter.
