Aupair in New Zealand
New Zealand’s largest city is Auckland. There are many other beautiful cities including Wellington, Whanganui, Christchurch, Nelson, Dunedin. New Zealand is scenically very beautiful with opportunity for skiing, walking, watersports. There are many national parks, beautiful fiords, glaciers, magnificent beaches, geothermal regions. Luxurient growth abounds. There are restaurants, clubs, good shopping. See for yourself where Lord of the Rings was filmed. Visit Hobbit country.
There is no age restriction for Australian citizens other than market forces controlling family demand.
Working Holiday Visa 12 months Age 18-30.
AUPAIR:
- A minimum of 200 hours childcare experience, baby sitting, youth groups, day sitting etc.. This does not include care of siblings or family.
- Work for 30 – 40 hours per week.
- Baby sit for 2 or 3 evenings per week. If over and above contracted number of hours per week payment is NZ$8 – 10 per hour.
- Duties include caring for the children, light housework.
- Driver’s licence preferred. Possible limited private use of family vehicle in free time.
- Two days per week free.
- Non – smoker.
- Wages are 30 hours NZ$150 , 35 hours NZ$180,40 hours NZ$200 per week. Live in.
- 6-12 month commitment
NANNY:
- Certificate 2 or 3 plus practical experience.
- 45-60 hours per week From NZ$250 per week.
- Non smoker.
- Sole charge of children.
- Driver’s licence preferred.
- Wages according to market demand and family needs.
- 2 days free per week.
- 6-12 month commitment.
New Zealand families do offer to pay a portion of the airfare. How much will depend on each individual family.
All documentation must be supplied in English. The Dear Host Family Letter should be written in the applicant’s own hand, where English is not their first language. All applicants will be expected to speak English during the telephone interview.
Australians do not need a visa to au pair/nanny in New Zealand.
Aupairs from the following countries can apply for a working holiday visa:
Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, USA, Uruguay.
