
Aupair in France

You do not have to speak French to be an aupair in France, the country of romance. Wine, champagne, mouth-watering cheeses and all things indulgent; fabulous fashion, historical sites. It is the heart of Europe, from the sunny Cote D’Azure in the South the soaring Alps and the valleys of Provence in the East, Dordogne in the centre and the wild Brittany and Normandy coast in the North.
There is always a demand for aupairs and those with a qualification are highly valued. Families will give preference to applicants with the JCR childminding/aupair certificate. Obtain your aupair certificate now through the on-line JCR Aupair course. Benefit by being given priority placement.
Age group:
18 – 29 Single only. Limited positions for Males age 18 – 25. Completed year 12 and have 200 hours of experience baby sitting, care of younger family members or working with youth organisations.
English speaking aupairs are much in demand in France. It is suggested that all applicants have at least 200 words of basic French before they leave especially if they have not studied French in either high school or at tertiary level.
6 month positions are offered but 12 months is preferred. Summer aupair positions between mid June-mid September.
Visa : Aupair Visa or Working Holiday Visa. Holders of an EU passport are not subject to any visa conditions.
AUPAIR
- Work for 30-35 hours per week.
- Light housework and childcare.
- Baby sit for 2 - 3 evenings per week.
- 1.5 - 2 days free per week.
- Earn 80 Euro pocket money per week.
- Attend language classes.
- Own bedroom
Please note that non-European citizens cannot work in France as Mother’s Helps or Qualified nannies. However, aupair applicants with in depth experience or qualifications are in a position to negotiate a rate above the minimum of Euro 80.
Attendance at language classes is compulsory. The fees for these classes are around Euro 46 – 76 per month. It is possible that one can negotiate with the family to pay towards the language school fees. Family provides health insurance cover over the aupair period. [Not applicable to the W.H. Visa] This is a controlled program so the number of hours worked and the rate of pay are as stated.
Please note that the visa for France can take between 8 -12 weeks to be finalised. Please do your interview and submit your complete application well in advance of the time you would like to go to France – preferably 5 months in advance. This will give us ample time to find the right family for you and to organise your visa papers. Initially you should make a provisional flight booking then make a definite flight booking when you have sent your visa application to the French Consulate in Sydney. At that time you can expect to fly about 16 days later. [Not applicable to the W.H. Visa which takes 5-8 days to issue]
The amount paid to you is pocket money and should be accepted as that. It is suggested that should you wish to travel in Europe, you take additional money with you or a credit card.
